Advertising Tips
Automattic Announces Blaze Ad Network Of Millions of WordPress.com & Tumblr Sites
Automattic introduced a new ad network called Blaze which places advertising on free WordPress.com websites and Tumblr. Advertising starts at $5/month.
Automattic is the company behind WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Akismet, Tumblr, and other companies.
Why I care: This new ad network opens the door for monetization for businesses and brands with WordPress websites as well as a budget-friendly paid ad option for those with less marketing $$$ to spend.
Done right this will also make it a lot easier to get in front of niche audiences that may have been harder to gain access to in the past.
Why advertisers should reassess Google Ads recommendations
Google Ads is fundamentally changing the way recommendations work. Here's why you should take extreme caution in applying any recommendation.
Why I care: Advertisers had opted into the recommendation, allowing Google to remove keywords with the same match type that show for the same queries in an ad group in an effort to combat redundancy.
The new change being rolled out to advertisers that have applied this will change the recommendation definition to cross-match types – removing phrase/exact match types in favor of a broad match keyword in an ad group.
If you applied the previous recommendation, these new rules will be pushed through to your account by Jan. 19 unless you opt-out.
Pinterest Announces New Partnership with LiveRamp on Data Clean Rooms
Pinterest has announced a new partnership with LiveRamp to implement data ‘clean rooms’ for selected Pinterest ad partners, which will enable brands to utilize their first-party data for ad targeting, without having to re-share that info with Pinterest.
Why I care: Essentially, the process enables businesses to show their ads to people who’ve got an existing relationship with both the business and the ad hosting site, while also keeping that data wholly separate.
Amid ongoing changes to data collection processes, from Apple’s iOS tracking updates, to Google’s planned changes to cookie tracking, every platform is now working to develop new processes to facilitate personalized ad targeting, without the need for data sharing across different apps.
Brand Building Strategies
Hey Marketing: An Inquiry Is Not A Lead
The main goal for Marketing in B2B companies is to generate leads for sales teams and increasingly to deliver direct revenue. Some marketers define anyone who fills out a form or attends an online or physical event as a lead. But I’m here to tell you: an “inquiry” (someone who fills out a form) and a “lead” are not the same thing.
Why I care: Two main points that I want you to take away from this article. First and foremost be mindful of your definition of a lead and how you're categorizing results for yourself and most definitely allowing agencies you're paying for these results.
You have to segment the results in ways that allow you and or your sales team to prioritize the results received. Leads need to be qualified and prioritized. Inquiry form submissions are one step in what should be at least 3 step process. 1. sort submission 2. Segment the list 3. Prioritize what order your sales team follows up with to move qualified leads through the process with efficiency.
18 Online Review Statistics Every Marketer Should Know
Online reviews are an unavoidable part of doing business online. Here are 18 statistics that prove the importance of online reviews today.
Why I care: Reputation management can make or break a brand. It's not just a matter of securing reviews but knowing what to do with them once you get them. Reviews lead to your name being mentioned in rooms that you're not in. Why not drive the narrative?

Guard your most valuable asset against pesky competitors
In an ideal world, guarding your most valuable asset, your brand, would be effortless. But take off those rose-tinted glasses, and you wake up to the reality that competitors are posing threats to your brand in search every day of the week.
Why I care: Many companies find it increasingly difficult to fend off rivals using their branded terms, trademarks, and ad copy in search.
This article will cover how you could automatically monitor all infringements, guard against competitors and maximize ROAS.

4 Things You Need To Know About Google's Helpful Content Update
Here’s what you need to know about Google’s helpful content update to align with their preference for helpful, high-quality content.
Why I care: There are 2 types of businesses that stand to take a hit with this update. Those that don't view SEO as relevant jump straight to paid ads. The other are those going through the motions and not bringing any value with their content marketing strategy.
With the rise of TikTok being used as a search engine resource and YouTube already a rival. Google is looking to maintain its 92% search engine market share worldwide by focusing on rewarding those with helpful content.
